Coping with a Toothache

Posted .

When you have toothache, you are experiencing a unique kind of pain. You can’t think of anything else except your aching tooth, and trying somehow, to make the pain go away. Of course, the first thing you should do is make an appointment to see our dentist, Dr. Michael S. Tseng. We’ll do our best to get you in as soon as possible, but what should you do in the meantime?

You can try taking an over-the-counter pain reliever. However, you should never apply aspirin directly to an aching tooth. A topical pain reliever can provide a temporary break, but you should never give it to a child age two or younger. An ice pack can ease the pain, and you can always try brushing and flossing to see if you can dislodge something stuck in your tooth that might be irritating you. Gently rinsing your mouth with a warm saltwater solution may also help.
